The 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is in its tenth generation.

Available for six years in North America, sales last year were up 53 per cent over 2006.

The Mitsubishi Lancer GSR starts at $41,498. The Mitsubishi Lancer MR is priced at $47,498. The Premium Package (nav system, full leather, sunroof and 450-watt, 10-speaker Rockford-Fosgate sound system) adds $4,000 on the MR.

The Mitsubishi Lancer GSR is equipped with a new five-speed manual transmission. The Lancer Evolution MR has a six-speed Twin-Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission (TC-SST), an automated manual transmission with magnesium steering wheel shifter paddles and console shifter.

The MR comes with Bilstein shock absorbers and Eibach springs, two-piece brake rotors, BBS forged-alloy wheels, HID headlamps and wireless Bluetooth .

Fuel consumption for the MR is 12.7L/100 km city and 8.9L/100 km highway.

The basic difference between the GSR and MR is the transmission and the wheels.
